Localized cryotherapy in Astoria

Localized cryotherapy, aimed at one sore spot

Localized cryotherapy delivers sub-zero, pressurized air to a single area, like a knee, an Achilles or a shoulder, instead of cooling your whole body in a chamber. Book it on its own, or together with a Signature Sports Massage.

Cold, three ways

FAQ

Questions people ask

More questions people ask

Is localized cryotherapy the same as a cryo chamber?

No. A whole body chamber cools everything at once. Localized cryotherapy is directed at one area, so the rest of you stays comfortable.

Can I use it after an injury or surgery?

Talk to your doctor or surgeon first, and tell the team about any recent injury, surgery, cold sensitivity or circulation problems before your session.

Good to know

How does localized cryotherapy work?

Sub-zero, pressurized air goes to the joint or muscle you choose, and the rest of you stays at room temperature. The drop in skin temperature is fast and intense. We run it at the studio on Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens.

Which session to book

  • One sore joint or muscle, and cold is all you want on it: localized cryotherapy on its own.
  • That area also needs hands-on work: the sports massage with localized cryotherapy.
  • Something that is going to take more than one visit: the 5 and 10 packs.
  • Your whole body feels beat up rather than one spot: the cold plunge makes more sense.

What people use localized cryotherapy for

  • One joint or muscle that is still sore after training, when the rest of you feels fine
  • Cold on one spot on a day you would rather stay dry than get into the plunge
