Normatec compression boots in Astoria
Normatec boots are air compression sleeves that inflate in sequence from your feet upward, squeezing and releasing your legs in waves. At Recovery Mode in Astoria you sit back in the recovery lounge with the sleeves on your legs, or on your hips and glutes, and let them work.

Good to know
What Normatec boots feel like
A firm, rhythmic squeeze that moves up your legs and then lets go. Most people find it relaxing enough to scroll, read or close their eyes.
People reach for the boots after long runs, leg days, games and long days on their feet. Dr. Vivian Huang, DPT writes about where compression fits in a training week in her guides to marathon training and HYROX recovery.
Oxygen Boost
Booked with the boots as one session, the Oxygen Boost costs less than booking the two on their own. It is recreational oxygen, not a drug, and not a treatment for any medical condition.
When to book the boots
- On its own, after a hard workout or a long shift standing.
- After a sports massage. The Runner’s Recovery Special is a lower body massage followed by 30 minutes in the boots.
- As half of the day pass: the private infrared sauna and cold plunge suite first, then the recovery lounge with the boots and an Oxygen Boost. It costs less Monday to Thursday.

Do I need to change for Normatec?
- No. You wear the boots over comfortable clothes. Shorts or loose pants are easiest.
Can I add the boots to a sports massage?
- Yes. The Runner’s Recovery Special is a lower body sports massage followed by 30 minutes in the Normatec boots, booked on the sports massage page. After any other massage, book a Normatec session for straight afterward.
Everything is sore. Where do I start?
- The day pass. You get the private suite with the infrared sauna and cold plunge, then the recovery lounge with the boots and an Oxygen Boost. When the soreness is general rather than one specific spot, that is what we tell people to try first.
Is the Oxygen Boost the same as oxygen therapy?
- No. It is the service we used to list as oxygen therapy, but it is not medical oxygen therapy. You breathe 95% recreational oxygen in the recovery lounge, on its own or while you sit in the boots. It is not a drug and does not treat any condition.
Who should check with a doctor first?
- Check with your doctor first if you have a history of blood clots, circulation problems, a recent leg injury, or are pregnant. If you are not sure, call us at (929) 666-1729 before you book. Otherwise it is a low-effort session: you stay dressed, sit back in the lounge, and the sleeves do the work.
